Who I am...

It began like this...

Well hello there. My name is Charles Vincent McDonald.
Yes, I graduated from high school in 1968 so you already know that I am older.
I am a dedicated professional photographer, life enthusiast, and a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran. My photographic career spans the length of time from film cameras and photo lab darkrooms through Photoshop, Lightroom and today's digital capture technology. I am resolute in my acquisition of HDR still photography, the 360 virtual tour, accurate floor plans and video tours within the industry.
Born in Spokane, WA, my roots are in the breathtaking natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. However, I lived my young adult years in the greater metropolitan Washington, D.C. area - an urban environment that sparked the fire of creative photography and as well as a career pursuit.
After high school graduation, I enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard. I was assigned to the Coast Guard Cutter Cherokee. My initial photographic training: U.S. Navy School of Photography. With my honorable discharge, I entered the corporate world.
As a professional photographic lab technician, I supported the NASA/USGS Landsat program as an employee at the Goddard Space Flight Center and the General Electric Company, Space Division.
As the Manager of the Art & Photography Group, IET MediaWorks on the campus of the University of California, Davis, I lead the team in the transition from film cameras to digital camera/computer technology.
Listing some of my professional work experiences: Allen Photo Service, UC Davis MediaWorks, Art & Photography Manager, Chartmasters, Washingtonian magazine, Comstock's magazine, Woodward & Lothrop, Habitat for Humanity, Make-A-Wish, Woodland Chamber of Commerce, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, California New Car Dealers Association, Marshall Medical Center, and Californians Against Waste.
My sports photography was published in the 1968 MLB Washington Senators official team yearbook. During the 2012 MiLB season, I was a photographer for the Sacramento River Cats. Twice my photos were selected for the cover of The Inside Pitch, their official game day program.
